Spotlight on a great Organization that helps foster kids: City of Life.

City of Life

Without parents, children in foster care often are left to fend for themselves. As they “age out” of the foster care system, these young men and young women are discharged from the state-supported care upon which they have depended for much of their lives.

Typically, foster youth in metropolitan Orlando turn 18 with:
No job

No car

We estimate that in metro Orlando approximately 150 young people in foster "age out" each year. These young people face many challenges in their pursuit of happy, stable and productive lives.

The City of Life Foundation was founded in 2002 for the purpose of offering former foster youth tools, opportunities and a chance to pursue their dreams. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 corporation made up of a volunteer board and one full-time employee interested in making a positive difference in the lives of young people, especially foster youth, age 16 and older as they make transition to adulthood.

The Foundation works with existing community resources to build self-sustaining programs that provides jobs and structure for former foster youth.
