Fond Doux Eco Resort in St. Lucia recently secured two prestigious awards at the inaugural Saint Lucia Tourism Awards, also known as The GIMIES.

The GIMIES, named after Mount Gimie, the country’s highest peak standing at an impressive elevation of 3,120 ft, symbolize the pursuit of excellence and reaching new heights. This collaborative effort involves the Ministry of Tourism, supported by the Saint Lucia Hospitality & Tourism Association and the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority. As the tourism industry is a vital driver of the country’s economy, aligning the awards with the nation’s highest peak signifies the recognition of outstanding achievements.

Fond Doux Eco Resort earned the distinguished titles of Small Hotel of the Year and the top accolade in the Sustainable Tourism category.

Dr. Ernest Hilaire, St. Lucia’s Minister of Tourism, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting sustainable practices and innovation, including provisions for such initiatives in the tourism development bill. In his address, he expressed gratitude to the individuals and organizations who have consistently made St. Lucia proud with their tireless efforts.

“We applaud the immeasurable efforts of everyone who ensures persons who visit our shores have a personal and exceptional experience. We are proud as a nation and the GIMIES is our opportunity to say thank you for all that you have done,” said Minister Hilaire.
