An event that has excited Caribbean folks and everyone around Phily, PA suddenly announced via social media post in February 2025 that the date slated for June will be cancelled. The message was vague and devoid of facts or reason for the decision, however there have been speculations from the fan base, ranging from lack of funds to issues with the city councils. Were they contacted by the new "men in black" who have no favor folks in dark skin and told to shut it down? There have been a spate of cancellations of Afrocentric events across America since the "gestapo"... er new far-right government took office and working from the 290 page "project 2025" book of hate, which so far has shown to be displeased with diversity and non-white cultures (just a thought).

Whatever the reason is, many people, especially the MAS bands who have been preparing costumes since the end of '24 event, will be feeling the most pain since they have money tied up in production.

A Possible Reason - Stabbing At Philly Carnival 2024

A fight erupted during the Philadelphia Caribbean Festival at Fairmount Park. A 37 year old man was stabbed in the back and refused medical treatment and a 20 year old male was also stabbed in the back and taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia by a private vehicle. No one died but the authorities got deeply involved. The city authorities may have issued notice requiring the event promoters to increase security at a significant cost, along with other requirement which they may not be able to process before the designated date.
