The spirit of service, advocacy, and community leadership was on full display as community members gathered for the 5th Annual Getting in Good Trouble Awards & Scholarship Luncheon, an inspiring event dedicated to recognizing individuals who are making a lasting difference in Central Florida. Inspired by the legacy of the late civil rights icon John Lewis and his call to create "good trouble, necessary trouble," the annual luncheon celebrates leaders who are committed to improving their communities through education, social action, youth development, advocacy, and public service. The event also supports scholarships for the next generation of changemakers, ensuring that the spirit of community engagement continues to thrive. This year's honorees represented a diverse group of individuals whose work has strengthened neighborhoods, empowered families, and created opportunities for others. Their dedication serves as a reminder that meaningful change often begins with ordinary people choosing to
make an extraordinary impact.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the recognition of Guenet Roberts, who received the 2026 Social Action Honoree Award. As one of the founders of Caribbean
American Passport, Roberts has dedicated countless hours to uplifting the Caribbean and multicultural
communities through journalism, cultural advocacy, and community engagement. Although she couldn't make it there, due to prior engagements, her presence was felt throughout the event.

The award reflects years of dedication to fostering understanding, promoting diversity, and creating spaces where stories from the Caribbean diaspora and other multicultural communities can be shared and celebrated. The luncheon was not only a celebration of individual achievements but also a call to action for everyone in attendance. The message of "getting in good trouble" encourages people to stand up for their communities, advocate for positive change, and work together to create a brighter future for generations to come. Caribbean American Passport extends its heartfelt congratulations to Guenet Roberts and all of the 2026 honorees. Their work exemplifies the power of leadership, compassion, and service, proving that one person can make a meaningful difference in the lives of many. As the event concluded, attendees left inspired by the stories of perseverance and dedication that were shared
throughout the afternoon, carrying forward the enduring message that positive change begins with the courage to take action and the willingness to serve others.
